Asylum Applications

Asylum is a form of legal status that differs from immigrant and nonimmigrant statuses. Both asylees and refugees are given Asylum and  granted admission into the United States because they proved that they have a genuine fear of persecution in their home countries based on specific grounds, such as political opinion or persecution considered to be a human-rights violation. If granted, asylum permits asylees and refugees to work legally within the United States and eventually become Legal Permanent Residents (LPRs).
